Any Networking Expert here?

I am having some trouble setting up my wireless router . I want to have a discussion about it . Is there any member who has learned networking and has more practical knowledge about setting up network devices ?

How do I set up a WiFi router such that it doesn't put the clients into a new network?
The network ID of my local network is 10.8.1.1 , 255.255.255.0 . But when I set up router with these settings it provides me an ip address of type 192.168.1.2 and then I'm unable to see other devices on my local network. How do I set up the so that I can be on the original local network over wifi?
